Building confidence in upgrades: Hampshire Hospitals’ positive experience of the Early Adopter Programme

3 min read

For busy e-Rostering teams, planning a software upgrade means balancing the opportunity to access new functionality with the demands of everyday operations. Having time to test, prepare and build confidence across the team can make a real difference.

Joining the RLDatix Early Adopter Programme (EAP) can also raise understandable questions. What will the upgrade involve? How will it fit around existing commitments? And what support will be available along the way?

For Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, these were considerations before deciding to take part. Fiona Corrigan, e-Rostering Deputy Manager, shares her experience of participating in the programme and how it helped her team prepare for a successful upgrade.

"When we first considered joining the EAP, we did have some concerns that we might encounter additional issues or system bugs during implementation. We were also several upgrades behind at the time, but after discussing it as a team, we decided to continue with the EAP as we felt it would provide greater long-term benefits.

Our experience has been very positive. We haven’t experienced any issues and have received a high level of support from RLDatix throughout, which has helped ensure a smooth transition. Our implementation coincided with team annual leave and payroll processing, which are some of our busiest periods. RLDatix worked with us to flex both the pre-production and live upgrade dates around our operational requirements.

I would definitely encourage other organisations to consider taking part, even if only for a single upgrade. Having the time to thoroughly test the functionality in pre-production before the live upgrade helped build confidence across our team and contributed to a smooth transition.”

Fiona’s experience highlights how preparation, pre-production testing and support can help teams approach an e-Rostering upgrade with greater confidence. Having time to explore functionality before a live upgrade, alongside flexibility to plan around operational commitments such as annual leave and payroll processing, helped Hampshire Hospitals manage the transition during a busy period.

For organisations considering an upcoming upgrade, the Early Adopter Programme provides an opportunity to prepare, test and build confidence ahead of implementation while working alongside RLDatix to plan around existing operational requirements.

FAQs

Hampshire Hospitals prepared for its e-Rostering upgrade by using pre-production testing to explore functionality before the live upgrade. Combined with ongoing RLDatix support and planning that took operational requirements into account, the trust was able to build confidence across the team ahead of implementation.

The implementation period coincided with annual leave and payroll processing, two of the team’s busiest operational periods. RLDatix worked with Hampshire Hospitals to adjust both pre-production and live upgrade dates around these requirements, helping the team manage the upgrade alongside day-to-day responsibilities.

Organisations interested in the RLDatix Early Adopter Programme should speak to their RLDatix account manager. They can discuss upcoming upgrade plans, timelines and operational considerations to determine whether participation is suitable for their organisation.
