PHL Group selects RLDatix, in partnership with MHR, to support a more connected and consistent approach to workforce management
PHL Group has selected RLDatix Optima, working in partnership with MHR, to support a more connected and consistent approach to workforce management.
PHL delivers healthcare services to the NHS and Police forces across the UK and Guernsey at multiple sites. After a period of organisational growth, following the merger of three organisations, the focus is now on bringing together workforce management and insight through a best-of-breed approach, combining RLDatix’s workforce management tool (Optima) with MHR’s HR and payroll systems. This will help reduce variation in how services are staffed and managed, creating a more consistent way of working across teams.
Moving to a more joined-up approach with RLDatix and MHR helps us simplify how things work in practice and create more consistency across teams.
“Bringing our workforce systems together gives teams a clearer, more consistent and efficient way of working, while giving leaders more reliable visibility over workforce activity across the organisation.”

Chief People Officer, PHL Group
What this changes for PHL Group
Introducing Optima and Loop provides a more structured and visible way of managing workforce activity, moving away from fragmented systems and manual processes.
Clearer visibility
24-48 hour scheduling views in Optima give teams a clearer understanding of who is working, where and when. This is particularly important where there are shorter, more flexible shift patterns alongside changing operational needs.
Better consistency with time and attendance
The introduction of the Loop app and Loop Locate functionality supports a more efficient and practical way to manage clocking in and out, helping to align recorded activity with how services operate in practice.
Reducing duplication
Integration between MHR and Optima connects HR, payroll and rostering into one ecosystem. This reduces manual processes and improves the consistency and quality of workforce data.
This gives leaders improved oversight through a more transparent and manageable way of running services, while supporting staff with more consistent processes.
Laying the foundation for the future
While this project’s primary focus is on improving day-to-day workforce management, this approach also starts to create the conditions for bringing workforce data together with wider organisational insight over time.
As PHL Group continues to evolve, having more connected systems in place will support more informed decision-making and greater consistency across services.
